Security Features

Our secure server software uses the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol, the industry standard and among the best technology available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet.

Your customers can also enjoy "safety in numbers". Millions of customers have safely shopped on the Internet without credit card fraud. In fact, presenting credit card numbers and other confidential information over the Internet on EONI's SSL-enabled servers is more secure than handing over your credit card to a waiter at a restaurant!

How can your customers know that they are communicating their information securely? Modern browsers, such as those offered by Firefox or Microsoft, are SSL-aware, and display a padlock or similar symbol or icon   on the status bar at the bottom of their browser screens when and only if they are in secure communication with the Web server. Also, depending on configuration options chosen by the user, a dialog box like the following might be displayed:

BROWSER NOTE: Some old browsers -- notably Netscape Communicator 4.06 and earlier, and the Macintosh version of Microsoft Internet Explore 4.5 and earlier -- may not properly recognize digital certificates with expiration dates beyond December 31, 1999, and can display a spurious error message even though the server security certificate is current. Users of these browsers should definitely update to later versions to avoid confusing online shopping experiences. Also note that the padlock icons and such visible symbols of secured pages may not display on Microsoft browsers for secure content that is displayed within a framed Web page.
