A:
Did you know that
10 25MB of free Web space is included with your EONI Internet Access account? You can use this space for a personal* Web site, or even just for file storage.
If you want to display your personal site to the public, its home page or starting point ? usually an index.html file ? would be addressed in a Web browser as:
http://www.eoni.com/~yourusername
(Building the pages for your personal Web site is beyond the scope of this article, but you can visit
http://home.eoni.com/supportBuildYourOwn.cfm for more information, or just search the Web for help on this topic.)
To transfer files to and from your Web space and get ?under the hood?, you will probably need a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program. You might want to take a look at some of the highly-rated freeware and shareware FTP software listed on EONI?s Tucows download site at
http://home.eoni.com/servicesDownloads.cfm . Or you could try an ?open source? FTP program such as FileZilla. Also note that some Web-creation and ?editing software have built-in FTP capabilities.
Also see
http://home.eoni.com/supportTutorials.cfm Depending on which of EONI?s servers is assigned for your Web space, you can use your Internet access username or email address, together with your password, for secure and private access with your FTP program.
Finally, in case you don?t know how much space
10 25MB (25 megabytes) means in practical terms, you should know that the vast majority of EONI customer personal sites require far, far less than the space allotted, unless they are unusually endowed with a great number of large graphics files. And if you ever find that you have such an extensive site that outgrows the space afforded by your Internet Access account Web space, you probably need a full-fledged site hosted under your own unique domain name anyway!
